News, Hospital and Back to Normal

Whew. I really do love this space and think of things to write then I get distracted. My goal for the last half of 2017 is to unplug from mindless Facebook scrolling and write/play/read or whatever.

Anyway the month of June was exciting and REALLY hard for the Fords. First the good news- we are planning a new addition to the clan in December 2017!!

I promise he is excited but we were bribing him with M&Ms to sit there for a minute while I snapped a picture.  He gives my belly kisses and will say "hi" to the baby when he thinks about it. He also knows the baby is in Mama's belly and then is confused when we tell him there isn't one in Dada's belly. D and I are so excited about adding to our family- we are 99% sure this is the final piece in our family and we cannot wait to meet our new family member.

Overall the first trimester was the hardest- I was beyond tired and of course sick. I do think I wasn't as sick as I was with Q but  I also requested meds from my OB which were amazing. Pregnant + toddler = I need all the help I can get.  We are almost 17 weeks along and tried to find out gender but babe wouldn't move his or her legs!

The day we announced our baby news we also had a trip to the hospital.  D had a huge hive or something on his back- it was awful. We ended up staying for 2 nights in the hospital and went home not really knowing anything.  D still didn't feel very good but we had a weekend of rest and then Monday he woke up with a really high fever. I made an appointment  with his PCP which resulting in nothing but to follow up with the doctor we saw in the hospital. Um thanks?

When he got home I decided to call her office and let me tell you she is AMAZING. She called me back with instructions and next steps. We kept his fever down until Wednesday morning when it spiked to 102.7. Off to the ER- which turned out to be the BEST thing for us. D was severely dehydrated and his kidney function was very bad. We spent the day with blood work, test and worry. He also felt awful- which was so hard for me to see!! We received more bad news about his liver function on Thursday- and his kidneys were also getting worse. Talk about a hard day!! After that news and no answers we thing proceeded with more test and more blood draws. Finally on Saturday we were giving an answer- it was a fairly common virus that had really affected him mostly his liver and then into his blood. He was a sick, sick guy! We started anti-viral meds and saw improvement in 24 hours and got to go home on Sunday!

We then had to fight with the insurance company to cover his meds and then Wal-greens to actually get them in stock since of course insurance only allows the Wal-greens pharmacy to fill things. As of Thursday we were right back to where we started and bless the heavens we got meds! He started getting better again and is now back to almost 100%. He was mostly really weak and tired- so a good amount of rest was what he needed. Overall it was a rough month! We had so many answered prayers with me having already been exposed to the virus and the baby is fine.

Q also was such a trooper! He was shuffled around to grandparents and spent a good chunk of time with both sets. We were so blessed to have them both close and willing to help with our little guy- it made things a lot easier for this mama that was super tired.

Overall the biggest issue is Q's sleep- I am working on a book and a plan for this. He just is so afraid of me leaving again or not being there when he wakes up! Other than that I just think its me that is still drained. My hope is this holiday weekend I can take some downtime and really relax.

My goal is to blog weekly on this space- I really do need something hobby wise and this is FUN! I am planning a few things and topics to hopefully interest those in the same life space as me.
